Imca web page announcing 2003 rules will not be available for download! If you are not registered with them a set of rules costs $9.95 + $2.95 shipping and handling.

I'm not a member of the imca club. So I'm not one of the few and the proud that receives their little news letter with the rules and stickers in it. But if one of the distinguished members would be so kind to enlighten me on the bert/brinn, legal/not legal issue, it would be most appreciated.

Just another one of their ideas to bring in more money for themselves.

Actually, I talked to Bret Root a few days ago and he told me about this. He stated that they were not going to put their rules out there on the site any more. Apparently, other tracks that were not sanctioned were linking to the rules directly off of their site. And the reason for the charge is for non members that want to use their rules for their own tracks without being sanctioned. Members will get their books for free.

I agree - that has to be the dumbest decision yet. They should promote that everyone have a copy of their rules and not try to make them hard to obtain - if the rules are out for "all to see" (even spectators!) then everyone knows what the rules are and they're "all on the same page"

I'll bet that one of the tracks will post the complete rule set with their "changes" noted... Just give it time and someone will do the racing public a favor and post rules..

Actually, what most of us want are the changes. I think you're right Brian, the changes, at least, will appear on many forums soon!

Well, aparently they haven't heard of using anti-leaching, or not allowing outside linking (i.e. dynamically building content for a specific visit, yada, yada) A quick change to their site and they'll prevent hijacking of content or outside linking. If this is the case then it sounds like a technical issue that can be solved rather quickly and not an issue of money. If they want to drop me a line I can assist in 'securing' the content...

Still won't keep other non-sanctioned tracks from saying that they "follow the IMCA rules", but will prevent direct linking.
