Author Topic:   Need Panhard Bar Help

I started racing a IMCA 4 weeks ago, I have a 3 link car,(2 trailing arms, 1 torque link long arm) I have a j-bar type panhard bar that goes from the left side of the frame and goes over the driveshaft and hooks on the front right side on the rearend. The first week the j- bar bent pretty bad and broke alot of stuff on the rearend and cut a tire down. This past Friday night the j-bar broke. I need some help, I can't kept breaking all the stuff on the rear and cutting a tire down. What do yall think about running a straight bar that runs from the left side of the frame and hook it up on the left side of the rearend. Will that work right? Will that give the the same feeling and roll?

Don't you mean right side of rear end.
I have run a long straight bar since day one with no problems and a lot of racing success.

Hey bud I'm with you on this one too. I bent 3 J-bar's this year! I ran a long bar behind the rearend for the first time at the supernationals and I thought it was the next best thing since popcorn on a track that's banked and lot's of bite. I got back home and I'm not sure I like it on a slick track. The car didn't feel or react going in, middle and coming off the corner. So I don't know what to do either! We ought to work together on this one!

When going to a flat slick track,lower panhard bar on both ends and it will work much better.I have had problems with j-bars,so I cut the j-bar mount out of the car,and will never run one again.
