we aren't required to run a spool. is there an advantage to running a detroit locker or some other type of ratcheting spool? what would the change from a spool to a locker do to the handling?

3/8 medium banked, long straights, tight corners, usually tacky.

Ive seen a guy win but lose in tech with one of those ,He was getting pushed around in the pits when some of the other racer's got curious how easily it turned into his stall.
If you try it don't get pushed around sharp corners.

I switched from a mini spool to a GM positraction unit several years ago when I ran stock8. It seemed to help a little getting in the corner when it was dry, I could run in straighter and further.I couldnt tell much difference when it was wet.
I dont know anything about the gold track, hope this helps.

It is nice to run a Detroit locker or a Gold Track, they will loosen up the car on entry. From what I have heard and read, Gold Track is the best. Most sanctioning bodies do not allow them. But when you have to equip every gear set you have with one of these it can get a little spendy.

FS93.....LOL! hey dude, i'm legal for next year. i haven't seen the new rules yet but kelly said they were using the chassis rules that i gave them from centerville along with our "virtually unlimited" engine rules.

thanks for the information on the gold track guys.

thanks tsmith2, our "loose" rules don't even address the rearend center section.

Hey outlaw, I was just looking at Tulsa's factory stock rules, and one might could get away with a locker in FS. The rule reads. "4. 9" Fords may be used. NO full spools are allowed. Mini-spools are OK." Doesnt say anything about lockers. Something to think about. By the way, I am the guy who was out at the Hooters show in Aug with the white #93 modified parked out by memorial. May she rest in piece, it was totalled two weeks later.

Beware of the wording....most tracks don't have a rule that says you can't run a locker or goldtrac or lsd.....but the do say no traction devices..... these devices are considered traction devices....i know...we tried to get away with it by the wording about spools and rear ends. Didn't fly with the techs at all.

Now, if they don't bother to check the rear end...then you should be in the clear...most tracks don't make you pull the gear except for big money races. We could get away with running with it every week at our local track if we wanted, but we have winning car there anyway so we don't risk it.
