I use the Fram "HP" filters and I've had no problem, but, I've seen lots of guys have the shelfstock Frams collapse on them quite often. I also used to run NAPA Gold's and a couple times had a Wix with no troubles attributable to the filters.

Fram HP's are the only way to go, they must work, the NHRA is using them along with many cup teams.

we used fram oil filter 1 time this year, and it collasped, costing us a motor. we called fram , and they gave us a lot of excuses. they did nothing for us . so we are now using wix filters ,have had no problems. just my 2 cents worth .

wix racing filters... the black ones.
Good flow+heavy case=durability and safety.

Cut open a fram filter then cut open a wix filter, you will never put another fram on granny's grocerey getter!!!!!
I have always used system1 filters and never had a problem until I got a new canton oil pan, the system1 hits the pan so I am using the carquest racing filter now.
The carquest filter is wix
#'s are
Carquest Racing Filter #185061
Carquest Premium Filter #85061
Wix Racing Filter #51061R
Wix Premium Filter #51061

http://www.dorianyeager.com/oilfilterstudy1.html

search on oil filter comparisons on any search engine.
Wix filters are used under alot of other names.
I personally use a purolator 1 filter, napa gold or wix racing filter

DMA, sorry about the delay but been pretty busy. Yes the carquest filters are wix filters and napa's are also, but I like the carquest better....we own a carquest store.

Fram HP-4 or the Purolator Equivalent are what we use and have not had a problem in 7 years of racing ,Still have original short block from 1st race.

Try a Balwin filter the canister is thicker than a wix racing filter!

I have been racing for 13 years and using nothing but Fram and I haven't had a problem. My uncle runs a 430 small block and runs a PH 13 on his car and hasn't had a problem.

Does'nt Purolater make Fram? Been using Fram filters forever, no problems except for the one time I put a Ford filter on my Chevy!
