What gear would you run on a 3/8 mile clay track with Med banking. I was thinking somewhere around 5.83s. I have a mild 350 eng power glide with a leaf rear(Don't know if it matters). I was thinking that this would put me around 6500RPM. Am I in the right ballpark or out in left field somewhere??

I run at a 3/8th's mile dirt track that has banking in the turns at 24 degrees. and people r running between a 5.00 gear to a 6.00 I think the track champ ran a 5.86 but most guys r running a 5.43
Hope this helps you out any.

I don't know about your deep gear choices, guys. I run a 5.67 on a decent 1/4 and turn 7400 on American Racers and I don't jerk 'em loose to do that, either. I would suggest a 5.00 on the 3/8 tracks and no deeper than a 5.14 without a bullet proof motor.

The track he is talking about is really a 3/10 and has tight turns. There is another track close that is a 3/8 and we run are 5.29 there and turn 7100 thats with a 86" tire. If we were on the little imca tire i could see going down some

Yota we run on 3/8 mile tracks with medium banking. We pull anywhere from 5.14 to 5.43.Most times we start with the 5.43 and as the track goes black we drop to the 5.29.we're tacking anywhere from 6500 to 7000.
