i belive a pull bar is much better .... as long as you do it right ... steve smith autosports makes 2 really good books and tell you everything to do and how to do it i bought the books and my car was extremly fast and consistent if ur short on funds like all of us racers are email me i will email you the setup they use

I tried the torque arm when I switched from monos because that is what I had but I never really felt the car was good like that. It never had good forward bite and it never felt consistent entering the turn, sometimes loose and sometimes tight. Maybe it was just something not adjusted right but when I switched to a pull bar the car was MUCH better.

The pull bar is more forgiving on the setup. It lifts the back half of the car and depends on a higher rear percentage to work effectively. The torque arm lifts the center of the car (which is why it upsets the car on corner entry) and is less dependent on rear weight as it basically lifts the whole car. My suggestion on the pull bar would be 9 degrees down pinion angle, 20 degrees down pull bar angle with 700-900# spring. Increase the angle for more bite or for shorter track, do the opposite for longer track. The more angle the more spring needed, the more bite in the track or the tires or torgue the more spring you need. Make sure the spring doesn't coil bind. I like three inches of travel. A liftbar can be made long with multible mounting points for the spring. By moving spring forward or back, it is like running a long or short pullbar. As you move spring towards rear, you need more spring rate. You can change or move spring on liftbar quickly and easily. They both are good torque reaction devices and everyone has a preference. Always go with what you are more comfortable working with and understand. Changing from Pullbars or liftbars will not win races, it is the total setup. House car is z-link with pullbar. We run 2 link with lift bar. Both cars are setup very differently but are top contenders at very competative tracks. Home track, house car finished first in points, we finished 2nd in points. We DNF 2 races leading by over half lap on second place car by having to much motor and bite, twisting off axles both times. As much motor and bite we had,the car was not overly tight, it was just on the monney. House car driver likes pullbar, we perfer liftbar. But the key is the setup on each of the cars are extremely different.
