I made a number of pieces for my car and cant get the clear plastic coating off the aluminum. I have tried eveything from brake/carb cleaner to hot water. Now it has the finish of a dead carp missing 1/2 its scales. Next time I'll test pull a sheet prior to making the parts!

try a hair dryer or find some stuff called GOO-GONE it is used for removing glue and adhesive left behind from vinyl

Heat he backside wih a hair dryer and it should peel off like vinyl decals.

I agree with the heat theory. Try a hair dryer. A regular heat gun may be too hot. Hope this works.

Oldgold wins! I got some stuff called "OOPS". Spray it on and the plastic comes off with little effort. But lots of little pieces. I got hold of a tape used to cover bullet holes in airplanes, it woks very well, but near impossible to pull it off the bare aluminum. Thanks everyone for your help!
