I ran a th350 for the last couple of races this season in my IMCA Mod. ran the car in 2nd with a 5:13 rear gear in a 10 bolt chevy rear end. motor was a 350 with 10.5:1 compression motor stayed in the power band in 2nd. the track i ran is a 3/8 mile 22 degreed banked track.

regardless of what you run for a trans, it needs to be run in high gear. This requires the correct rear gear though. Running in any gear other than high, causes significant power loss as you running a double gear reduction. Automatics also build heat and decrease longevity run long term in low.
