I am considering using a factory ford 9" in my first Mod, is it absoulutely necessary to run a floater? What Disk's are easy swap for the smaller bolt patter ford? Will I need to use aftermarket axles? This rear is out of a 71 Mark 3, is it too wide? How do I convert to a floater or is this just something I need to buy outright? Thanks

You DON'T need to run a floater.......steet stocks aren't allowed to run floaters.....
people in the mod class run them because they are stronger and make changing gears a little easier.........
I'm not sure about the small bolt patter. I know guys where talking about using the newer lincolns and such because the have disk brakes already. If you run a stock rear end you will need a after market axle for the right side........If you don't spend the money for the axle you will spend the money on a new roof and front end parts when you land on your head..........don't worry, you will break a stock axle and land on your head.
I looked at you profile and you didn't enter where you live.
I've got a 60 inch wide floater rear end, complete, ALL brakes, including calipars......axles, drive plates, hubs, caps.........add gears and grease...........bolt into 78-88 mid size metric (Monte Carlo, Grand Prix, Cutlass)......$300 you pay shipping (will fit UPS) two packages.......
