for a mod with a 355-377 at a large 3/8 like boone ia run a 5.43-5.67, for the 355 if it isnt real strong use a 5.83. if you have a decent 406 run the 5.43 and if its a real strong 406 maybe even a 5.29.
1/2 mile tracks run anywhere from a 4.56-4.86 and if it gets slick maybe even a 4.33.

these will help you get real close but in the end it all depends what your engine combo is and the rpm range of the cam

Is it a fast 1/4 or a stop and go? We have run 5.29s on a fast 1/4. That was with a 355 and a 383 turning about 6500 to 6700 depending on what the track was doing. Most of the guys that run there run .43s to 83s. Just my 2 cents!

It also helps to know what rpm the powerband of your cam kicks in. If you have a snappy cam you may need to run a higher gear to help save from spinning too much. What kind of corners on the 1/4 miles? wide and banked or sharp and tight?
