I have a set of "Sportsmen" iron heads and am currently using an Accel #262 plug. Last week I received my new D.U.I. distributor and the instructions said to open the plug gap to .050". My plugs will not open that far. Is there a better plug that has an extended electrode? I need a standard reach, tapered seat plug. Thanks.

I run a distributor from the same company and they recommended a .050 spark plug gap. I've tried that gap and to me it didn't seem to improve the preformance of the car. I went back down to a .028 to .032 and had better results. It's just my opinion. Good Luck

I also use the same distributor and I run .035 gap. The engine seems to run very well .

If you've ever been to a trade show that has an ignition demonstration, you will see at .050 the spark jumps to the corner of the electrode instead of the tip, even with a high voltage battery setup. I never run over .035. The first year I raced modifieds I use d that 18 volt terrorist battery and wasted a lot of time and money trying to make it work like they claim it does.
