I am thinking of changing to gas this for a couple of reasons. (1) More rear weight at end of race, especially long races. (2) Running IMCA tire on dry slick tracks I don't really need the extra toque. (3) Cylinder head mfg. says gas works better on most heads. (4) Easier starting and less maintenence.
Disadvantage is price of gas.
Is anybody using gas now? I would appreciate your input. Thanks

I changed my car from gas to alcohol at the end of this last season.Never could get the engine temp to stay down where it needed to be. Changed to alcohol and the problem was solved.

I ran gas the last 3 years and never overheated even once. I switched to alcohol for this year because when the track was tacky they would eat me up out of the turns. If your track is real slick you will be just as fast as everyone else. By the way it was usually upper 80's to lower 90's on the majority of race nights and still did not overheat.

I have always run gas, always had good luck cooling as long as I had a good shroud and fan blade positoned correctly, If you figure your alcohol usage ( about double) gas isn't really much more. Also I have always been able to get by with cheaper carbs and figure it would cost me $3-400 more to go alcohol and that alone buys a lot of gas.

In my area gas is 4 dollars per gallon verses 1.35 for alcohol, that is quite a difference.Figure how much a shroud would cost along with having to have a bigger, heavier radiator and when most of the time you also have to have better water pumps, and everything always has to be top quality where you can get by with sub standard equipment on alky and still cool.
