We run VR1 straight 50 weight. Some guys run 50-20, however I wouldn't recommend anything lighter, atleast in a big motor like we run. As far as changing the oil we do it after every time we hit the ignition button. It helps when a Valvoline dealer is a sponsor on the car. FREE OIL! FREE OIL!

On a dirt car i change the oil every other night or every 100 laps which ever comes first. Dirt cars ingest so many contaminants that really there is no such thing as changing oil too often. I run vr1 50 most of the year but run 20-50 if the weather gets cool. There is a big debate on sythetic vs conventional oil. Personally i do perventative rebuilds often enough that i haven't seen significant enough wear to warrant the use of sythetic. Also there is a slight horsepower gain with the sythetic but i beleive most modifieds are over powered anyway. I think if money wasn't an issue sythetic would be the way to go though.

I too use Valvoline oil as that is what my sponsor provides. 20w50 for the cooler weather and straight 50 otherwise. Change interval is after two complete nights. Never any oil related problems here, 'cept for the exploded "FRAM" HP4 filter and the loose innards of the "DELCO" filter. (On the other hand....... LOL )

We use Kendall GT-1 50wt, we change after two full nights of racing. No problems, and we don't get that milky oil in the spring and fall.

when i race just one nite a week i change every 4 nites, unless i have had the engine hot or run extremely hard. when i start out in the beginning of season when colder i use straight 40 then when warmer i use straight 50 or 20/50 valvoline or castrol. when i race 2 nites a week i change every week
