How long on average does it take you guys to rebuild an engine? From tear down to firing it up again? Just a curious question.

Thats a tough question because it depends on what you do while it is torn down. If all you do is take it apart and put it back together maybe a couple days. If you take it apart and take some parts to machine shop, or have some parts checked out, cleaned, etc. you could be talking a couple weeks. If you have everything you need and everything is cleaned ready to go once you start putting it together i would say around 8-10 hours and you could have it back together. then how ever long it takes to swap it back into the car is up to you.

I agree with dirt buster' it can take anywhere from a day to a few weeks depending on how well you check everything. I would deffinitly choose a well known machinist to use. Whatever can be checked should be checked cause there's nothin worse than going out with a new motor and having problems because of something simple. Are you going to assemble the engine yourself? I know of a good ford guy over my way you could talk to if need be.

Thanx everyone for your replies. That gives me some numbers to go with. John, who is that you know that does Fords? I'm not doing it myself, I want it to run right. hahaha.....I'm supposed to have someone doing my engine, a friend, who is a Ford fanatic, but that's just putting it together. Not machining anything. I'll take his name and number and holler at him and see what we can do. Thanks again.
