i am having some trouble with a motorcraft carb i've been running. its been hogged out to 1.75 bore and is a very nice carb...but... it runs way to rich and loads up my motor. it acts like the float level is to high but i have it set much lower than the float in my other motorcraft but it stil runs rich. after i shut it off i can see a few drops of fuel drip out of the boosters. do i have boosters that slope down to far? i have 91's in for jets right now (holley jets). the motor is a 355 with darts running about 7000rpm. the name of the carb isan "alberator" made by a guy in southern iowa. if anybody knows who this guy is i'd also like to talk to him. any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance

these carbs are similiar to the holley 2300 series and it sounds to me like you may have something in the inlet needle/seat. take the assembly out and clean it real good. if that doesn't fix it, try a new needle and seat.

Are you running a pressure regulator? Sounds like you might have more pressure than the needle and seat can handle. I think I know the guy who built the carb,he's from Des Moines, but I'm not sure he called his carbs"Alberator".Can you describe some of the mods done to it? If its one of his I can get you his name and phone #.

The 91 main jets seem kinda high to me. The latemodels at my track with the good 2BBL Holleys are running between 76 and 82 jets. just an idea.

yea i think the guy was from the des moines area. i was told he built carbs for rick brown and steve jackson. its been hogged out to 1.75 bore with what looks like 850 holley butterflys. has been tapped for holley jets. the body of the carb has been smoothed and epoxied. the carb is also painted black. the stock venturi size was 1.02 according to the # on the side of the carb. also the choke horn was removed. as far as pressure goes...i dont have a regulator but when i put my imca carb on the motor runs great and doesnt foul plugs. it would be great if you had a phone # for me. thanks alot!
