Im running a 3/8 mile med bank track i have a 225# lr spring and a 250# rr spring on my car. I went down to the local race car builder and wanted new springs to try. He told me to run 200# on both sides because on the rear springs for dirt he said you wanted the springs to be the same. Is this true? Also i personally think 200# is a little light for a 73 Nova. I would think more on the lines of 225# for a heavy car. He's got me thinking now the car handles alright but could his suggestion make it even better? Thanks Eddie

Eddie, I have always used different rate springs......But, you know, different strokes........

I would not hesitate to change springs...if....the handeling of the car suggested that I needed to do so....

The one suggestion I would make is to switch sides with yours.....heaviest on LR......

Good Luck,

Eddie, I use a 50 pound split......250 on Left..........200 on the right......

I don't know what the asphalt boys do.......

Stiffer LR will help your foward bite......

I strongly reccomend that you give it a try.

Good Luck,

i run a 3200lb camaro on a medium banked 3/8 clay, i currently have a 200lr, and 175 rr. if i increased the rate on the left rear to around 225 how much would this affect my forward bite. my car is loose off. i can't drive down under someone off the turn. snowman, what type of track do you run on and how much does your car weigh?

Tim, going stiffer on the LR should tighten you up........you could also increase cross or decrease stagger.......

The local track is a big, fast track....3/8 inside...1/2 out....medium bank....3200 lbs rule.....I am not racing this season......putting together a new car for next year.

Good Luck,

Snowman
