Ok, here is the situation. The motor i have in the car was run last year by another driver. That motor with a powerglide and 3.73 gears would turn between 6900 and 7100 rpm day in and day out. On to this year... same motor with the same type of powerglide with 4.11 gears... 6200-6300 rpm. Whats wrong with this picture? nobody here seems to have an idea and all i can think is maybe its the carburetor. thats about the only think i have had issues with all season so far. Luckily they have changed the rule to allow us to run Holley 4412's now so i hope that fixes it, BUT i'd like to know if any of you might now of something else it may be?

You obviously have the wrong carb builder if you can't get more rpm than THAT out of a 2G.
And considering the lack of tech in the carbs where you're running, it should be easy to get the car to breath up to the 7000rpm range.
the same thing will apply to who does your 4412's too...

But that's just my humble opinion. If you need help, you know where to reach me. I've got carbs on cars up there that are in front of you, btw....

there are 2 types of glide too, the gears are different inside and will change final ratio.

KP... I know you said you'd help and i appreciate it. Being laid off i don't have much to work with. The guy who did my carb doesn't do many rochesters and there is a possibility the carb was junk to begin with. It was a small bore carb to begin with. Once i get back on my feet I will give you a buzz, but for the time being I have a box stock 4412 that should work ok. I know he will be doing carb - off inspections now because he has the tools to tech the 4412.

As far as the Glide goes, it was built by the same guy that did the one in the other guys car so they should be identical. Same goes for the converter. The Tranny i have now is #2 on the season and its the same story as the first one. After saturday i'll know for sure if its just the carb or not

By golly i think i got it! The carb change worked! I almost won the heat but someone decided to get under me out of 4 and got me sideways. I ended up 4th out of 10 cars. Bad news was something let go in the motor as i was waiting to go across the scales.
