OK, First the track: 1/4mi.,flat,good condition track.(no dry-slick)Racer: 83 metric s/s,3040lb.,355(all good stuff),3spd.1.68,4.11 w/ disc.brakes, hooisers 27.0 dirt-stockers.Car handled good all night. Last week engine turned 7200rpm's(first night out)and seemed fast til tranny broke. This week engine turned 6500 & felt like it was spinning the tires off when coming off the corners? How is that? Not very fast either. THANKS TERP

track conditions will always be different and it might have been a little slicker, what did you change in the tranny,

Just my 2 cents worth, is it possible the tranny was slipping so you wern't spinning the tires now that it's not slipping you need play with the gas more. Slower can actually be quicker if you can controll the car

I'm not real familiar with what final gear ratio you should run, I know how to figure it out but with my budget i don't do a lot of changing parts unless their broke. Like some of the others have said track conditions will change so what's perfect one week might be a little off the next. Instead of changing a bunch of things learn to drive the car and only change things after a couple weeks so you have a chance to get comfortable with the change. I've swore that i couldn't drive a car before the car felt loose but the next week after my more experienced friends suggested something most of the time easing the throttle not jamming it to the flore and driving under control the car handles like a dream.
