Hey Guys(and Gals)......i've heard some people say "lose the stock body mounts,use metal blocks...or sit it right on the frame"......and others say "don't bother,leave the mounts alone"....what does everybody here think? I'm a die-hard reader of "Stock car" and "Circle Track"...(and of Sleepy) next car ,a 79 monte, i'd like to do a complete frame off,sand blast,weld-up any chassis seams,and mount the body right on the chassis....pry the body back and to the left as tighting down, of course......(how's that for remembering sound advice,SLEEPY?).......So what does everybody here do?

I have taken out the body mounts on my old super stock I ran, But I think if you build a good cage and tie it into the frame right and X the frame, you shouldnt need to worry to much about body mounts. The body is only cosmetic you want it to give a little, if its tore up in a crash thats ok but if the frame bends Time for another car!

I think it has to do with lowering the weight, less roll over....maybe.

your right the body is heavy and thats almost an inch or more your lowering it i have mine out and shifted as far to the left and rear as i can

It probably is a matter of driver preference more than anything. I have had cars both ways,(with mount and without). I run flat half miles, so i want quite a bit of body roll. That being said, if you are going to tear the car down to bare frame anyway, then I would get rid of the rubber mounts. The stiffer the car the better. Good luck.

You can also use polyuerothane bushings if need be. Eddie
