Would a posi rear end have an advantage or disadvantage in circle track racing? I am asking this because the posi would "free wheel" through part of the turn. Would this reduce the need for stagger?

i have my rearend welded solid the same concept as a posi. the whole idea is to get both rear wheels pushing the car thru the corner the same as a posi does, that is why a posi will jump a little on pavement when you turn sharp.

weld the spiders. i know that you can put more clutch packs in a 9 inch and make it a posi. an old straight liners trick that my buddy used on his dragster. i dont know about any other rearend types but i know that you can do it in the ford rearends.

Jim, I would say you are correct. If you ran the posi, You would not HAVE TO depend on stagger as much. But,it cuts both ways.......on the other hand.........You COULD NOT depend on stagger to help you as much.

The posi will work fine, untill it dies......It was not designed for the abuse you will give it.

The bad thing is, it may not die all at once......it may catch and slip .......making handeling eratic, till you figure out what the problem is.......

So, It will work......but all things considered.......I would run a locked rear end.

Good Luck,

Snowman
