i am in the market for a cam/lifter set. i talked to comp cams and for the set i want it's about 850$. i also found a comparable cam at camcraft but the prices arent in the web catalog. Day motorsports has a set real reasonable for the cam and lifters. Has anyone used a day cam? would you recommend it if so?any other cams that are highly recommended?don't really want to spend that kind of $ on a comp set unless it is gonna make a huge difference. any help will be appreciated. thanks,Skawlded Dawg

I recommend camcraft myself. I just bought a cam and lifter set, havent used it. But I like the idea of dealing with someone that sponsors the forum. Just my 2 cents.

Give Camcraft a call. They'll custom grind a camshaft just for you motor.

Last one I bought was solid cam and lifters for around $250, I think. Ordered it on Monday, had it in my hands on Friday.

i appreciate the feedback on this. i think the guy at comp must've punched up a wrong #. i'm gonna try and get another quote, but right now i'm leaning toward a competition products set (elgin). it has come highly recommended by a couple of different guys. i am gonna get a quote from camcraft tomorrow too. and i still like the price of day motorsports' set.thanks to all who share their opinion. Cams price depends on the completeness of the "kit". He could be looking at a Roller conversion complete cam kit. Cam, Lifters, Pushrods, Valve Springs, Retainers, locks - that could be the $85o right there... And remember - when they sell direct they're selling list prices - a dealer will usually get a better price.

For a flat tappet cam you're getting taken, for a complete roller conversion that's an average price.

i called comp back and that's not a mistake. $525.02 for a "k-kit", which includes cam, lifters, springs, retainers, locks. plus around $200 for their roller tip rocker arms and another $89 for push rods. they're awful proud of their stuff if you ask me, but for all the wise guys out there, call and see yourself, that's the price.
