I have another question, this one regarding transmissions. I have a Turbo 350 that came with my '74 Camaro, and I was wondering if I should just use this tranny, a different automatic, or a manual? I know I'll need to do some modifications to the 350, and I was wondering what are the most cost effective? I don't know what the total weight of my car will be, or what gear ratio I'll have in the rear-end. I'm planning on running medium banked tracks from 1/4 to 3/8 mile. I was just wondering what everybody else is running, and the pro's and con's of each. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I HAVE RAN A BONE STOCK 350 TURBO FOR 3 YRS AND NO PROBLEMS. AS FAR AS A STANDARD SOME PEOPLE LIKE THEM. TRYING ONE THIS YR. ITS A MATTER OF CHOICE.

All I have ever run was a stock t-350 only had one go bad. We put new seals and a new filter in it before we race it.

i run a t-350 the only thin i do to them is keep up with filter and fuild changes and seals other than that just run her. myself i like a 3 sp better for the simple fact that you can push start it and they are more reliable but i can't afford to buy all the stuff to get going with it so i'll stick with the 350

if you are going to run the turbo 350 there are some easy modifications that can be done for cheap. First of all start out with a good trany or rebuild it, then intall a manual valave body shift kit they are under 75 dollars. They elimanate the kick down cable and shift moudle.Any be sure to use a good converter and tranny cooler. This kit makes the tranny act like a manul u have to shift it. if u put it in second gear u take off in that gear ect. I just redone my tranny. rebuit it install the vavle body kit and bought a new converter and spent under 300 dollars, i didnt pay for any labor. Hope this helps u
