Does anybody no what all 8.5s came in like will fit in a camaro. In the gears that would work like 3.00 to 3.50? also I have a 78 montecarlo with a 7.5" rear, what cars would have a 8.5" that the 4 link rear would bolt right up. Thanks J2-JDukes

I can't help with your camaro but I think I have your monte carlo covered. If I understand it right you are trying to put a 8.5 in a metric car. A rearend from a 73-77 malibu, grand prix, cutlass, chevelle, lemans, monte carlo, etc. will work. You will have to drill new holes for the upper arms about an 1 3/8 in or so from the stock holes. Take the shock mounting bolts out and move them to the same position as they are on your metric, the factory has already provided the holes for you. The angle is just a touch different on these but you can "work" them on. You will need to shorten your driveshaft just a little bit too, you will need to measure it to do this. Keep in mind that it does fit. It is not a direct bolt in and you will have to "work" with it a little. I had a hard time getting mine to line up. If you have someone that can help it is really nice, I didn't. You will want to use your brake line(the rubber one) from your metric too I believe. I think its longer. If not just remove the clip on the frame and the pull the metal line over a little bit. Putting this rearend in your car will widen the track by about 4 inches.
