Well I am most definitely not an expert but I know in my car I have always just run a stock 4 bladed fan and I have never over heated. If there is something better I would also like to know just incase when I build my new motor I have Ideas incase the old way is not good enough.

I use a steel 6 blade and it works fine. I used a plastic fan once but I put my fans about 3/4 of a inch from the radiator and the tips of the fan pulled forward at high rpm and flattened the fins on my aluminum radiator.

I run dual electric fans with a 11-1 motor and a 3 core radiator. It works fine.

i run a metal 6 blade fan...just make sure when the motor is at full song there isnt a whole lot of room between the fan blades and the shroud.that way no air escapes.

last year i tried a new plastic style fan that most race mags are now carrying its about 20-25 bucks. it worked great. its not a flex fan weight its nothing and pulls air like crazy. message me if your interested and ill look to see what catalogs its in. i was a little leary at first but now wont use another type.

I have been running a 6 blade generic style racing fan, steel. I was reading where Nascar tems use a 4 blade fan at short tracks lie Bristol where they dont get good air and need to push air throught the radiator. The article said it was the standard 4 blade fan, Ford, GM and mopar have all used them over the years.

I do like the idea of a plastic fan. Is it carbon fiber? What type of plastic was it???

Good topic!!
