I beleive that the 69-70 heads did have the highest flow rates. They had 1.84 intakes and 1.54 exhaust also. You will probably want to mill them some because fords never did build engines with much compression.

I have raced fords for many years. The way to make a windosr run is to angle mill a set of 69 or 70 heads.

You could try the aussie 351c 2v closed chamber heads. They have 2.19 intake and 1.71 exhaust with a 64cc quench chamber. They will bolt to a windsor with some minor mods. I want to try it someday the combo should make some good numbers. The angle milling sounds a lot less expensive.

I currently use the aussie cleveland heads; but still use the cleveland block. they work good and are available from Towers&Harwood for $395.00 a pair(1999 price)used pulloffs. If you cannot grind the ports (rules) on the windsor heads, the cleveland heads are much better. Valve sizes in aussie heads are the same as standard 2barrel cleveland;2.04 int. 1.65exh. only snag to running them on windsor blocks is the intake manifold. Midwest Motorsports used to stock lots of parts for the clevor engine. a aluminum intake is available, not sure about cast iron.

have seen good success with this combo.. early 289 heads 66 down drill head bolts to 1\2 in in drill press very simple to do be sure and chamfer holes bolt directly on to 351w block advantage is you can now run solid lifter cam with no modifications necessary you will also gain compression and some 289\260 heads didnot have ex port restrictions recommend using speedway motors 351w bullet cam very hot grind email me for more info.

Bship does Towers & Harwood have a web address? The aussie heads from PowerHeads are $1000 a set. They are set up with the 2.19 valves and ready to go. I would much rather go the $400 route from Towers. I am running a 400 with 351c 2v heads. The aussie heads would be nice to have for a spare motor.

hrspwr: Towers&Harwood does not list a web site in their 01'catolog.their phone no. is 785-537-4100 Rick Towers is very helpful on ford engine combos. I have also used the standard 2v heads. after a .060 mill job,the chambers cc at 67-68cc avg. they work fine. good luck.
