B-body is fullsize. Impala, Caprice.

I'm building 2 door Caprice sport coupe.
I was wondering if anyone has run a b-body before and how they liked it vs. a metric car(Monte Carlo G-body).

i ran a 1980 impala on several different tracks this past year.even though i raced it in pure stock classes it seemed to handle pretty good.i never raced a metric chassis but i know how mine worked compared to a couple of my friends metrics.my chassis was basically stock with the exception of carrera shocks.post any questions and i'll try to help any way i can. cruiser19

Our street stock is basically a pure or hobby stock. we run 8" OEM DOT. 8" wheels.
claimer engines, 2 bbl, rochestors and stock exhaust. No weight jacks, were allowed a RF spring. Suspension must be "stock appearing". Stock mounted race shocks, spring shims, and other "not so obvius" things. There is room for a lot of creativity and junkyard part swapping. The metric cars are always loose and with out adding weight or getting crazy with rear control arms, the only way to tighten it is with more Lside weight or reverse stagger. The better handeling cars are almost 3400-3500.(we have no weight rule).I figured to start at 3400 but on a widder platform would be better because of our limited suspension mods. I wanted to try a B-body due to its larger track width, the extra wheel base might even help. our track is a black slick, low banked , 1/2 Dirt.
2 questions for now:
1. Did the car have excessive body roll?
If so, Did you have to run rear sway bar to help?
2. What was your race weight and percentages of the stock setup?

Thanks cruiser19;

Just what I was looking for, a starting point as to the kinda weights these things run. Im sure ill be under 3400#.
My car is the second car on the suspension page forum. The whole car is just a skin and ive removed a lot of weight off of the firewall. The engine is going back at least an inch or two. The battery is on the drivers side.
Thanks for the info. If I have any more questions, you'll here from me.
