What are the pros and Cons of a 16V alternator and battery?

I run an MSD so I assume that the added voltage would be good. But I dunno if there would be anything bad about it. Obviously I would need a 16V charger and Battery. Is there anything I'm missing?

Most of their stuff concerned 18v systems, which is way too much to install for the goal I want.

I'm thinking of a 16V alternator and 16V battery.

Basically I'm wondering if the voltage increase will be worth while, and if there are any other disadvantages to the system.

Or if I should use a 12V battery and only use it to start the car, by using a switch to disconnect it once the engine is running to prevent overcharging.

I'm hoping that by removing the heavy steel fan and the increase in voltage I will free up enough power to run the alternator. Possibly if I can find a reliable electric water pump I can delete another accessory and save more parasitic losses... but I dunno.

LOL! I just realized that Sleepy is the character that wrote that article. Very good piece. I learned a lot after I tracked it down.

From the sounds of it though the MSD isn't going to make much more power with the added voltage, did I read that right? It can only lose power with voltages under 10V?

a lot of people just throw in an old hei and say well i'm good but they really are loosing a lot of power i tried the 18v setup and my engine now will turn 7,800 smooth as glass and pull a lot harder too.
