Never heard of this myself, CompCams does have a new cam it's called the XTREME ENERGY. It is available only in hydraulic and hydraulic roller. The catalog say's "Their aggressive lobe design produces better throttle response and top end horsepower than other cams with the same duration @ .050", while delivering increased engine vacuum". Sounds like a cam for the vacuum restricted classes. About throwing the lifter off the cam, the problem you are going to have is controlling valve to piston clearence, spring bind and not to mention a lifter slamming back down on the cam, OUCH !!! I definitly don't know alot about cams but I just can't see this working and lasting.

I've been all over the comp cams website lately and I haven't seen anything to that effect there. I have to say I can't see how that would work either.

check out Comp cams kart cams for 5 horse Briggs for the skinny on controlled valve float. Don't think it goes on in cars, yet. Spring pressure is critical and it only happens in a very narrow RPM band, really the top of RPM range. A kart motor can get another 300 or 400 more RPM. cool idea anyway

The Launcher cam came out last year from Comp Cams. I read about it on their web sight. I think it was under New Products.

I just checked Comps web page and couldn't find it. Maybe it worked so good it launched the push rods through the valve covers. Sorry for the bad info. Call Cam Craft, thats a winner.
