Ok, this is the 2nd time in 2 months that we have broken a pushrod. Heres what we have:350 chevy, dart heads, Midwest motorsports #7 cam 552/563 lift, running guide plates. We normally turn about 7600Rpm. It has broken the pushrod on the number 2 exhaust valve both times. And both times I thought maybe the rocker arm came loose, but the set ***** on the poly-lock was still there, and the nut was still tight, so that ended that one. If any one has any suggestions...PLEASE help me!!! Thanks

You might want to check to see if the guide plate isn't putting a bind on the pushrod. I had one break like that a long time ago and what happened was the guide plate was off just enough to bind the pushrod against the hole in the head where the pushrod passes through. I can't recall at the moment if Dart heads have the little holes for the pushrods to pass through or if that area is all open.

Another possibility is that the set of pushrods you are using just aren't strong enough for the cam (I'd imagine you're running a pretty good set of valve springs to turn 7600 with that much lift and not float anything). Have you checked all of the other pushrods to see if any others are possibly bent a little? Just a few things for you to check. Hope it helps!

Maybe that particular spring is a little weak and the valve train is separating. And if you are using the type of pushrods with balls welded to the ends, try this: Take all 16 out of the engine, carry them to the edge of your property line, throw them as far as you can, then buy a set of one piecers! At your rpm level, they are needed.

Thanks guys, Iam going to mess with it tonite, and also, Monster i did try the throwing bit, and I never thought that pushrods would bounce off the street that high
