How many of you guys out there run vacuum pumps? What do you run, how do you hook it up, and do you do anything else to the engine? Some experiences would also be helpful! Thanks!

birdcage is right . I do not think it is practical to pull a vacume on a dirt engine . While it is possible to keep some of the dirt from being pulled into your engine by running your timing cover and rear main seals backwards in the engine , it is still not possible to keep it all out . My thought's are , for the average racer who does not have a small fortune to spend on engines , the horse power gained by pulling a vacume is well out weighed by the accelerated wear due to foreign contamination that gets in your engine from pulling a high vacume .

birdcage is also 100% correct on the horse power gain's that he spoke of . If your running on asphalt , I say pull a vacume ! But on dirt , I think it's a question of your budget and how much you want to spend on engine freshening .

Along those lines of vacuum, what about using that fitting on the header collector and a hose to a valve cover breather with a valve to pull some vacuum? Not so much for the power gain, but would it help the oil puking from the breathers problem?
