What are your thoughts on installing a new sleeve on an engine? Last year I broke a piston and it took out half of the cylinder wall. The deck is perfectly untouched and everything else is in perfect shape, just the wall. I would not use it for a race motor but a street engine, probably 350hp or so. Now realize I know nothing about this machining operation when you reply. Also about how much would this cost? Thanx for your input!

I had 2 sleeves installed in my backup motor. Cost me $150 for both installed along with some minor machine work done. You can't tell which ones were done.

Aluminum blocks have all 8 holes sleeved. Why not run them in a cast iron block?
If you have enough material at the bottom to leave a "step", it should be fine.

I have put sleeves in all kinds of blocks if done with a ledge at the bottom and a press fit on cast of .0005 per inch of bore it will last a long time. hope this helps.
