My son is going to try and raise the compression in his hobby stock,he has to run flat top pistons,but can run any oem chevy head except camel humps.What number 305 head should we look for?

#605 305 head of the 4 barrel truck or car engine. should have 1.84 intake and 1.5 exhaust. i would open up for 1.94 int and 1.6 exhaust.

i believe the casting number is actually #601

416,440 and 601 all have 1.84",1.5 valves and 58cc. www.mortec.com has all that info.

i stand corrected#601 is what i was thinking of and i beleive they have the smallest combustion chamber.

If you must use the 305, they make good bottom end power, but don't breathe
very well at the top end. If you can you
better port them all you can to help them breathe.

the 450 is 60cc not sure about the valves.
