Hey guys...i'm planning on building a chevy engine for my Hobby stocker...but, what about racing a Buick or Pontiac engine? ....That sure would discourage "claimers"!..any comments?
Does anybody know of any BUICK or PONTIAC racing websites that could help?.....i know this sounds INSANE!

I have run a 455 pontiac in my 79 camaro hobby stock for the past two seasons and never had a problem with it. The most important thing to remember is to keep the rpm's down in the 5000 to 5500 range with the stock rods and heavy pistons. A friend of mine runs a 455 buick and has been for 6 or 7 years took a while to work all the bugs out but is allways a competitor. We also run these motors to discourage a claim and neither of us have had one claimed yet. Kind of fun to run something different and beat up on the chevy guys once in a while.
