Do you mean the engine turns over slow or is it just hard to fire up? I would think if it was hard to fire up I would recheck my valve adjustment. Check it while the engine is hot.

I would check the timing and possibly the starter. I had a starter that after it got hot it wouldn't start the car but once it cooled it was fine.

Alot of people run a ford solenoid somewhere away from any heat source and I will turn the the motor over with the starter switch and then after it's turning I flip the ignition switch. It's alot easier to turn over that way especially with the timing advanced so much.

we run heat wrap around starter that stops the hard start prob. as for your engine trying to stall when you put it in gear thats a real prob you need to ask a tranny expert thats not good!
