i have a 307 small block in my olds. im in search of more power and have found a 403, would the big block be too heavy and make the car slide over the turn or will it put us in the front of the pack?

most of theses cars don't handle all that well anyway so i don't see where it would hurt you at all most of the fast guys around theses parts are all running over 400 cid engines

We ran a 403 in our cruiser and it had tons of torque till it blew after two nights

i forgot to ask what size track you are running on they run on 1/2 miles here with those big blocks but on a 1/4 a small block would still work pretty good like a 350 rocket but that 307 isn't enough to pull a cruiser car

our track is a 3/8 mile oval. i talked to some guys, and they say that there are only a few cars with less than a 400. i think i will try a 455 or 403. they do still have the claim rule at our track, but no body believes in it. thanks for all your help.

Just a thought that no one has bothered to point out to you yet. The Olds 260,307,350,403,and 455 are all the same extrernal size. This means that if it does weigh more its only a very little bit, maybe 20 lbs. Run the 403, its a great motor.

We've been switching back and forth between or 455 and 403 all season. The 455s and 425 are larger then the 403 and smaller small blocks. With the big blocks, if you hit or get hit fairly hard in the right front, the right front frame rail will snap the passanger side exhaust manifold, w/the small blocks they're is plenty of room betweent he frame rail and manifold. You can also just tell by looking at them that one is larger.
