Thinking about buying a pipe bender to make some better rollbar and door bars.

Was wondering if anybody has used the pipe bender from Habor Frieght or Northern Tool. They run about $99.00.

Low buck tools has one but it is $300.00 plus.

Wanted to get something that works fairly well.

Have been using the old method of heating it up and bending it around a tree - ha ha

OK, heres what ya looking for. The bender from Harbor works pretty good. You have to remember that its a pipe bender, not a tubing bender. If you buy tubing it will not fit the sleeves correctly and kink. 1" pipe works real good in it. The 1 1/4 that you most likely be using (it has outside dia. of 1.666) doesnt work so well. You can't make real sharp bends with it. I have never tried it with a little heat added though so maybe that would help.

I was in luck - I was reading a local paper and saw one of those traveling tool sales going on in town and they had advertised a 12 ton pipe bender for 70.00 bucks - same as the one northern is selling. So I went buy there today and bought one. If it doesn't work for the roll bars I'll use it to make my brackets and seat bars etc...

I'll let you know how it works out.

They also had a 4ton porta power for $50.00 - picked up one of those too.

If anybody else is interested they have a website at WWW.homier.com - The site will give a schedule of where the sales are going to be.
