A guy at the track told us to take the foam out of our fuel cell because it will break up and clog the fuel filter.

He said just run the cell full or close to empty.

Does the foam clog up fuel filters?

Yeah, it's meant to be replaced yearly because of normal breakdown. Also when replacing be sure to clean out the cell real good to get all the loose particles and when putting the foam in and out of the neck you need to do your best to not scrape any off on the edges of the neck.

i use 4"drain pipe with holes in it,you cut it in about 8"long and pack it in your fuelcell each layer going in different ways, its cheap you can get it at any hardware will last a long time, the fuel will not break it down like foam.

I have replaced every year without a problem. I also clean the cell and then leave it empty for the winter. I try to clean up everything and put as much as needed away for the winter.

The foam is in there for safety reasons as well as limiting rear roll. Use it and replace it every season.

I've never had good luck with the fuel cell foam. Both times they've clogged my filter up so I decided to throw them away. I'd junk them.
