I've got a '82 chevy malibu (same frame as monte carlo i find). I'm wondering how wide I need the trailer to be to haul it. I can't measure it because the car is out of town at the moment... anyway...
How wide is it from the outside of the wheels? Or, if you know, how wide is it from brake rotor to brake rotor?

Couldnt tell you how wide the car is but i have a 73 Nova. My trailer is 80 in at the frame rails i think the trailer is 8 ft wide legal here in Utah. I run 60 series tires on the car with 3 in back space rims being the widest the car fits fine with a little room on both sides. Eddie

My car from the outside of the tires with 4" offsets is around 72" and about 69" or so from outside of one rim to the other. 8" rim 255/70/15

When I looked for a new trailer last fall I carried a tape measure with me and I measured a bunch of trailer makes. The decks were all 80-82 inches wide. One trailer salesman explained the deal. "This is because of the total width that the trailer can legally be". so depending on what size the trailer tires are and the fenders on the trailer thats the size you get. WIDER IS BETTER.
