I am putting together a chevy rear. The spiders are welded and now I am putting the axels in. We got the c-clips in place, but the axels are too close for the cross pin to go in. I have tried prying them futher apart and still not enough. Any info would be appreciated.

i had a problem like this before,i think the only thing i did was grind the splines on the axel.( towards the wheel flange) about 1/8 inch.. some axels the splines are cut
farther down than than others..do you have to beat the axel in to get clips on it?
