I have a TH350 with a 8.5 10 bolt rear end, I still have the stock gears of 2.73('77 Nova). The 2nd gear in the tranny is 1.52. What gears should I put in it. What should the overall gear ratio be to run on a 3/8 oval.

I'm going to use 255\60 on the left and 275\60 on the right. Both on a 15" rim.

run a tape around your rears to see what the roll is and then what rpm do you want to run also?

i would try a 373 or 410 depending on how hard you plan on turning your motor

What you have now is a real good combo. I raced a 686 final( same as yours) on a 3/8 last year it it was perfect. This year I ran it on a 1/4 and it was a little slow out of the corners. I would keep what I have and run in first only.

Thats hard to say because what some claim as a 3/8 may be closer to 1/2 mi then others claim 3/8 and its more like 1/4 mi. Most racers in your class won't tell you any information when you get to technical questions. I would go to a Modified/ latemodel driver who you know (or a friend knows) who has moved up from a similiar class and ask them.
