i built my own motor and can hang with the leaders. this was my first season. do yourself a favor build a good dependable motor but concentrate more on handling. all the motor in the world will not on itself win a race. if your car can`t handle it makes for a very long night.

if you have confidence enough to build something to get you home everyday then build your own. i have never had a good motor but always run just fine most of mine i just pull out of a junker put a cam and oil pump in um and go. i ran a stock 307 out of a truck with 150000 miles on it for a whole season only had $100 in it and it made me alot more than that in the long run

I Agree with everyone else. If you want a good motor and if your track rules allow run 305 heads on a 350 bottom end. It will go a long way. It gives you more compression. It will not do much though if your car doesn't handle good.

Those are some pretty wide open rules..JE makes a great piston..alot of good lightweight rods out there, callies or lunati make a great crankshaft..GM latemodel '492' castings come with 2.02"/1.60" valves..Brezezinski does wonders with cast iron..Several good carb builders out there (I understand KPLugnut is good w/them.) As far as the Hyd. cam goes, I'm sure there are cam companies out there that can grind whatever you need..
