Aluminum radiators that have experienced the excessive overheating or blown head gasket may develop swollen tubes. What will happen is the pressure within the system will spike above the blow off pressures of the radiator cap. This spike in pressure only has to rise to 34-38 #'s or more before damage can occur. Check to make sure that the distance between the core tubes has remained open.

If your not currently using a high presure cap 22# or more cap I would strongly recamend it. This will net you a couple of degrees for each pound of increase.

Avoid running any antifreeze or the "Water Wetters" Despite claims, any water pump manufacture will tell you their claim is false. Do use a water pump lubrication and rust inhibiter, you would be surprised as to how well this stuff works.

Hope this helps.

we have used a stock ford 5 blade fan for ever, works great.

I noticed you said the fan was 4-5 inches away from the radiator. Try holding a paper towel up to the front of the radiator and see if the pull of the fan will hold it up against the rad. If it doesn't put a in fan spacer. I have my fan less than an inch away.
