what are the pros and cons on these heads. Do they really flow better than bow ties and what casting number are best?

I just finished the 2000 season with a set of
Vortec heads on a 350 cu.in engine with 13:1
compression and a holley 4412. Made 430 HP on
the dyno. Best engine I,ve had in a long time. I don't know what they cost but they have a lot of work done to them. The engine
was purchased complete.

Ever heard of the National Latemodel Sportsman Series? The series runs in the southern states like Florida and Georgia. They get 40 to 50 cars a race and 95% of em run Vortecs including myself. These heads are on engines from Cornett to Clements. The better 362c.i. engines are pushing 500hp with flat-top pistons. Not bad. Top of the line Vortecs are gonna cost ya between $2500 and $3000 race ready. Yes they are prone to cracks next to the exhaust seat area. Vortecs require a special intake also. Vortecs are easily identified by the center-bolt valvecovers unless altered. If I had a choice between Vortecs and a good Dart head, I would choose the Dart. Our rules require a cast stock GM head however, making the Vortec an easy choice due to its power producing aspects. If your required to run a cast GM head, Vortec is the best choice. Hope this helped.

if you have to run flat tops and oem heads then vortecs are the way to go.are big motor is dome 16& a1/2 to 1 bow tie's 205s 480hp. are vortec motor flat tops vortec heads intake etc, 13& a1/2 to 1 @ 445hp and has better torque. this is on dyno. are big motor is now 3rd in line for back up have motor sponser and two new vortecs this yr don't think we will need to go that deep. ask a good motor man.
