Has anyone experimented with running a Detroit Locker to get away from running stagger and increasing straight away speeds.
The late models use a gold track by Winters
are these two units comperable. I know you all are running Mods, just asking?

we have run gold tracs, lockers, spools and have not found a big advantage of any. driver says he can feel a little difference in entry handling with the lockers but not enough to change the way i set the car. The disadvantage is greater rotating and unsprung weight especially with the detroit. Unless you are running a long track with wide corners i don't think there is a huge gain in straightaway speed. We are currently running aluminum spools in our gears and they work fine and save a lot of weight over the detroits.

Thanks for the advice. I almost bought an
aluminum spool but chose the steel because I
was unsure if it would hold up in a 2800 lb.
car. If the aluminum spool is OK I will replace the detroit locker with it.

we've run one of our aluminum spools in over 150 races and have never had a problem in a 2200 lb modified

Now all I have to do is unload a brand new
detroit locker. Street racers might be interested.
