I am building a street stock car to race at Cleveland TX. It is a Camaro body with a mild 350 and a 2-speed power glide,1st 1:81. My question is what ballpark final gear are most of the faster cars running? It also has a Ford 9" rear end. By looking at the track my guess was around 6:10 , am I close?I was also going to try to use both 1st & 2nd gear this time instead of just 1st on the glide has anyone else done this , and if so what kind of results did you get? Thanks in advance.

You are gonna need something around 750 or more at 105, MMS, Dundee or whatever it is being called now. That track is a 1/4 mile and needs lots of gear.

Everybodies set up is different, but, I ran a 1/6 mile track late this summer and only used a 6.99 running 15" wide rear tires, 20 compound, with a 90" or 91" roll out and was hazing the tires. This car hooks up hard! Might be bragging but there were 8 in my class and I won the heat and feature, lapping the entire field in both. Don't get caught up in the rpm game. If your not going forward the gears not right no matter what the guy beside you is using.
