i personally like a big, wide, fast dry slick surface. the fast guys are fast and the slow guys are slow. it seems like when it's tacky, they're all fast. nothing like getting next to a guy and hearing him flat foot it and buzz the tires while you drive by at half throttle. can you say throttle control? you can throw the big HP out the window, it's all about the driver on a dry my opinion......

racer17j, your home track is different than mine. when our track is tacky, it's usually one groove around the top and follow the leader or push him out of the way.....and you have to hit a guy pretty hard to move him when the track is sticky. when tulsa speedway is tacky, it'll almost pull your shoes off when you walk across it. when it dries out, you can run the bottom, the middle, the top or you can throw it in on the cushion, diamond off the corner and drive it off on the bottom(my fave).....lots of opportunities to pass.

The track that we race at, if the track is dry slick, there is no way of even staying on it. Everyones cars seem to handle pretty good at the tacky level. The fast guys are still fast and the slow guys just drift on back. If our track is dry slick, there is no way to pass bc it feels just like a solid sheet of ice and the cars have absolutly no control.

The one's I like are the sticky shoe pulling off kind , Where everbody is stuck to the track. There seems to be alot less crashing on these kind of tracks. Two and three grooves everybody throwing dirt everywhere.

My personal favorite is a real dry, slick race track. Here in Western Kentucky, when we have a track like that they tend to stay alot smoother. On a heavy race track everyone is fast, even the guys that have no business being fast. When it slicks off we can usually run 3 grooves and it is all about setup and driver, not just motor.

I love dry/slick tracks, being able to 3 wheel underneath the guys as the drive in just a little to hard and slide up. Our track is almost always dryslick and is usually 1 1/2 lanes on the bottom. The few times it is tacky its drop the hammer and ride the rim.

I started on a dry slick track. stuff can get pretty intense sometimes. i find it kind of challenging because you can go out for your heat race and it be tacky, but when you come out for the feature it is as dry and slick as... something that is real dry and slick. so you have to pretty much guess what kind of changes will have to be made for the next race.

Our track is useally one lane all night.
Early the bottom is too sloppy and everyone runs high, then the track drys and it is one lane on the bottom.

We have a yellow true clay track. Much rather run on black dirt , have it go dry and take rubber. This clay gits dry, turns black and plenty slick. ***NO GRIP***

Any track preparation that doesn't require packing......if I wanted to go mud bogging, I would get the 4 wheel drive out.
