Black Flag is the tool. An Impartial flagman is the key. I'd like to the two put together sometime!

Trading paint is the name of the game. Being a dangerous or vindictive driver is not racing. I've seen drivers get mad and run one of the lead cars into the wall just because they were lapped. Only way to get this resolved is to complain if the flagman isn't doing his job. This sort of behavior was common at our track until recently. The management would not listen to complaints. Now we have new management and I'm glad to say, they listen. Attendance is up with crowd and entrants and I've decided to try the dirt oval for the first time this year (Street Stock). Band together and threaten to use a neighboring track. Be prepared to follow through if you don't get anywhere. Your track won't make money if the entrants won't show up because spectator attendance will follow. If you have sprints & modifieds at your track, the management seems to listen more to these guys because they are a better draw for the crowd. Try to get more of them on your side.

Additional note: If you follow through with this advice, give your management a -little- time to get your flagman to change. Usually the flagman has a close relationship with the management and they don't want to ruin it. This is a political type of change.

Always and I mean always deliver a fresh batch of homemade cookies to the flagman before the races start....this seems to work for me.

Keep the flagman from boozing it up before the races start. The drivers aren't allowed to and shouldn't but neither should he. I've seen ours so drunk before the races that he had to use the fence to hold him up to walk. But our local track thinks he's the greatest. I could do a better job than him, and he's definetly biased. If you're not the big name here you don't have a chance. We are under new management this year and have complained, but he's staying.
So what do you do?

Why don't you give these "rough" drivers the address for stockcar racing British style and we will see what they are made of.We've given "over seas" entries to American drivers in all our world finals but non have made a big impact in the race ......YET!
