When it comes to welders get name brand. My favorite is miller, but hobart is good(owned by miller). ALso lincoln is high quality, and esabs are not bad.
But stick to one of those four is my advice.

I weld for a living at work I have a Miller 350p real nice welder but spendy. I have a hobart 180 at home its a good welder but it lacks some adjustablity with only have 4 heat settings. I would definately agree with zero's top two. Also depends what you need it for, if you're just welding a few brackets or doing minor welding a cheapie would get you by, but if you do any serious welding spend the money. When it comes to welders you get what you pay for.

About 15 years ago i bought a 115 v, 130A MIG welder from Daytona Mig. It's still running strong 4 cars later
It has paid for itself 242 times over so far, it works great, makes me look like a welder which i am not.
