The other day I ran across a product (www.tfxengine.com) on the web which is used to measure combustion pressure inside racing engines. A sensor and really fast data acquisition system is used so that pressures inside the cylinder can be measured and plotted against crankshaft position. There is a whole bunch of tech data plots which are fairly easy to understand. Apparently the company has a system which is geared pricewise towards regular racers as well as NHRA etc. No doubt some of the better dyno shops have one.
