Where's the best place to buy a sheet metal brake. Are there any plans on the internet for building one myself?

We just got done making one ourselves and it was no fun at all. It bends short piece 2ft or shorter pretty well, but it tends to bow out on longer pieces. We were bending 20 gauge it would probally do aluminum better, but I can buy 20 gauge for $4.00 a sheet compared to $50 for aluminum. Good luck with making one hopefully jammin puts some plans up.

I built a brake by some plans once and it bent ok for awhile on short and some long pieces but when i tryed using it for 20 gauge steel instead of aluminum i warped it. I ended up buying a manufactured brake that bends steel or aluminum fine and can do more things than the one i had built to some plans.

I go around to heating and air conditioning businesses that bend their own duct until I find one willing to let me put their mame on my car in return for a few bends. If your are not pushy and wait for your bends until they are not busy, I find most will do it.
